Do you have a spritual eating disorder?
by Awakened at Gilead inwith all the talk of puking on the site lately, i wonder if many of us don't have spiritual eating disorders.... after all, many posters say things like "i'm puking in my mouth" while reading a pro-jw poster.. perhaps some have to really spiritually puke after attending a jw meeting to get the wt influence out.. so are you a spiritual bulimic?
a spiritual anorexic?
or do you just get that spiritual nausea when you see anything jw related?.

Blondie's Comments You Will Not Hear at the 05-11-08 WT Study (CRIES)

Blondie,
My JW wife complains that I read the WT more now than when I was an active JW...LOL.
Thanks for your comments. I thought that it was interesting that the WT states:
keep in focus the marvelous fact that Jehovah will soon relieve mankind of all distresses. (Ps. 34:19; 37:9-11; 2 Pet. 2:9)
My comment: Which of the scriptures uses the word "soon"? Only Ps 37:10 mentions "a little while longer", but that was written at least 2,500 years ago.... so how does that mean "soon"? Does this mean we have another 2,500 tears to wait? The WTS interprets everything to indicate the nearness of the day, to keep the r&f happy, without meaningful goals and uneducated.
BTW, thanks for reposting the 2007 QFR. I re-read it now, and I noticed that it had a mention of the 1931 noolite that I had no idea about. I haven't seen criticism of the 12 hours= 12 years 1919 to 1931 before. I wonder where they got that from... are there any scriptures that say "an hour for a year, an hour for a year"???? But these people that twisted the scriptures to make them apply to their organization are the same ones that the QFR mentions Jehovah was using and anointing from the late 1800's onward. Can you get more circular reasoning than that?
Thanks for the comments... If it wasn't for this thread, I wouldn't have gotten my spiritual food for the week. (Excuse me while I go puke the WT message... I'm a spiritual bulimic)

If the FDS was appointed in 33 C.E., then why did Jesus inspect in 1918?
by Olin Moyles Ghost infirst, some background: when i first began to have doubts about whether the jw religion was "the truth," i performed quite a bit of research on the faithful and discreet slave doctrine...in the society's literature, of course.
like many of us, i had never really examined the doctrine.
well, needless to say (but i'll say it anyway), i found major flaws in the society's interpretation of the parable of the faithful and discreet slave.

OMG,
The FDS was a big topic that caused me to have doubts also. My issue was how the FDS works.. if the ones who really do the work are the GBs not the anointed in general.
In Gilead, Carey Barber gave a talk called, "The 1900 Year Old Faithful and Discrete Slave Class". I lloked forward to this talk, anticipating that it would clear up my misconceptions. In the end, it left me feeling unsatisified (about as unsatisfied as Onan's sister-in-law-wife), since it all seemed to contrived.
You make a good point as to why the 1918 test had to occur. The WTS parallels it with the parable of the wheat and the weeds.. since the distinctyion would not be clear until the harvest (supposedly since 1914).
So for me the big issue remains 1914. If the end didn't begin in 1914, then the FDS wasn't appointed in 1919, and the rest is a load of BS.

Several million people can't be wrong, can they?
by easyreader1970 inthat was the question that i asked myself for many years when i struggled to believe the deceptive texts flowing forth from the watchtower.
sure, this doesn't make any damn sense to me but apparently it does to six million other people.
they can't all be wrong, can they?

I felt just like BluesBrother for years when I went to assemblies... I would choke up too when I would sing them damn Kingdom Melodies...
But my last assembly day was also my last meeting. I got different vibes from the org at that point and saw through the lies... Then I realized that thousands, yes millions, were all wrong...

Don't understand a WT teaching? It's probably not important anyway:
by easyreader1970 infrom august 1, 1980 wt:.
is some point we have trouble in understanding really important?
does it affect the truly important things we have learned with the help of the "slave" class?

GB: One Witness said: "Even if it was all a lie, it's still the best way to live. I couldn't of had a better life.".
I've heard my share of that too... In fact I used to say it... Until I realized that it actually was a lie...lol.

Now, we find out that this case is going to cost Irish taxpayers over one million ($1,000,000) Euro's. The Irish taxpayers will be extra mad when the JDubs ring their doorbell this weekend.
Can't they charge this to the WTS????? -

I can't believe the Society would let her sue especially after she posed as a catholic. Shows how brainless they are and how they think Jehovah will move things for them...
